Any landlords out there who can help me??

Question:
I live in a 6 unit building. All tenants relatively clean. We have lots of flies. They are all coming from the ceiling and walls. You can see at least 50 in my drop ceiling light. My unit has 6 rooms are only 2 rooms have the issue, kitchen and bathroom. I would say between the 2 rooms there are at least 50-75 per room. They also are thick in the entry area of the building(enclosed hallways). Other units are affecyed also.
Itold my landlord and she said to get Fly Strips. I did. I thought she should have, but I did and not many attracted to it. I have 6 hanging and maybe 10 on each strip. Ialso asked her if there was a "bomb" for houseflies or **** slies, which ever they are, and she said no. I think with an infestation like this, there has to be a way to eliminate this problem. Because it is a problem. As it stands right now, I have written a 30 days notice to terminate my tenancy, just now, have not submitted to her yet. Now this is her responsibility, right? Health issue??

It is her issue for sure. You need to tell her that the unit is unsanitary to live in and tell her you will bring a health inspector to prove it to her.
I'm no expert but it sounds like there might be a problem with the plumbing system.. a cracked or damaged drain line could be letting sewer gas out into the plumbing chase ( behind walls or ceiling) that could attract flies..

another reason for the flies could be a dead animal that you or your neighbors ain't smelling dead in the wall giving the flies a place to breed. call your local health department and ask them if there is anything you can do to get your landlord to get off his butt and help.

in most cities the landlord is responsible to ensure the health and well being of his tenants is not in jeopardy by the condition of the property
