Question:
What happens to your body with anorexia? Can someone with anorexia get better?

Answers:
It is an eating disorder. Some people either eat very little or starve themselves. Others may think they are too fat when they are not and try to work off all the weight. In turn they end up losing fat and muscle and get too skinny.

Yes people can be treated. It may have become psychological as well as physical. So there may be no need for meds but slow eating of food to a normal level and minimizing exercise. It can be treated.

Some do relapse.

Other Answers:
it's hard to breath.yes..they can with special treatment
You are starving yourself. Your teeth can fall out, you get no vitamins, you look in the mirror and think you are "fat" at 87 pounds. You can die. Your brain can't function properly anymore because you have no nutrition in your system. You can die. You can die.
Yes, you need to be hospitalized for this. It is something that needs counseling services too because it's also a "control" issue - you can't control anything else in your life but you can control what you put in your mouth. It is serious stuff. You can die. If you know someone with it, help them somehow. Call a 1-800 # or something.
Did I mention you can die? Your organs will fail if not helped
anorexia is an eating disorder. when you have anorexia, you dont eat. or every couple of days or so you may eat a little. just to keep u alive. but dont think about it. people die from this eating disorder.
Anorexia is a mental disease. When a person looks in a mirror, they see themselves bigger than they really are. The only way they know to get rid of the weight they think they have is to vomit out what they just ate. They think they are still going to get the same nutrition from the food, but that is false thinking.
It can be treated, but it usually takes a psychologist or a psychiatrist to get them to come around and know in their minds they are not fat.
Anorexia is an eating disorder, or ED. One theory is that anorexia is a way for a person, male or female/ to excert control in what can be a chaotic world. They look to the one thing they can control: their bodies. During anorexia, you may lose you menstrual cycle and/ or delay it. To be characterized as anorexic, you must refuse to maintain a body weight at or above 85% of your ideal body weight. An anorexic may be very sensitive to the subject of food, eat by themselves, develop rituals around food, and suffer from body distortions. A body distortion causes someone to see their body in a different way than it is in reality. An anorexic can get better; sometimes on their own, sometimes using an outpatient treatment team, and sometimes residing in a inpatient/ residential program. Hope this answers your question!
