i have a cold what actually works?

Question:

Answers:
there's nothing that's going to cure it - the best thing is to treat the symptoms (OTC antihistamines, cough suppressants, nasal decongestants), get lots of rest, drink plenty of water and wash your hands frequently to prevent passing it on to someone else.

there's also zinc lozenges you can buy OTC (Cold-eeze is one of the brand names), if you start them within 24-48 hours of symptoms they can help to shorten the duration of the cold. I keep them on hand and start using them whenever I feel a cold coming on.

Other Answers:
There is no cure for the common cold, live with it or die.
vitamin c
Go to your local drugstore and get a medicine called Airbourne. It was designed by a teacher who was tried of getting sick. Also buy some Zicam, echineca (found in the vitamin section) Vitamin C pills and orange juice. If you take all of those every 3 hours, you get rid of your cold in 2 days. The key to getting rid of it is to boost your Vitamin C intake, stay clean, wash your sheets, towles, wash your hands, and anything that you spread germs on.
Tincture of time. If you don't take anyhing for your cold, it'll last fourteen days. If you take something, it'll only last two weeks.
Vitamin C -- lots and lots of it. (You can't have too much -- if you take too much you'll just pee it out.)

Warm soup helps a bit, a least makes your throat feel better.
