Cancer sores??

Question:
I get mouth sores & have gotten them ever since I was a baby. i have been to oral surgeons and specialist everywhere throughout my life. They all said its just genetics and give me numbing meds. (cause my cousins and grandfather gets them) But i get 'breakouts' twice a minth where i can barely talk the hurt so bad. I get about 4 at a time. On my toungue and on the sides. Sometimes the gums. Does anyone else get them like we do??

Answers:
although I don't get those mouth sores, I'm wondering if you have visited a dermatologist and had tests done for alergies.

I'm not directing this to you, just saying...alcoholics have a gene that makes them crave alcohol and it's hereditary from a study I read. So maybe there is a gene in your family that causes those sores. Have you contacted places like the Mayo Clinic and inquired? Would putting a "medical term" to your condition help you? Maybe it would be searchable on the net. Canker sores do not appear to be caused by viruses or bacteria. The cause is unknown. It is theorized that there is a hereditary immune system link.

Think you meant (hope you meant?) canker sores. Bad typo you have otherwise!

Canker sores are caused by a virus, so I'm surprised your doctor didn't offer an anti-viral medication to relieve your outbreaks. You might give him a call and see if he'd consider it for you.
I feel so bad for what you are going through. And yes there are lots of people out there that have this happen on their mouths and down below...if you catch my drift....it is a form of herpes....have they ever giving you acyclovir? this always helps me. I would say to try abbrev ointment but I don't know if that would even help if they are as bad as you say.
Cancer sores or canker sores?

It's a form of herpes.
It is not genetic. It gets passed around families by kissing, and sharing food & beverages. It is transmitted through the mucous membranes and occurs most frequently in the mouth and genitals. You need to be careful to not spread this further, because once you have the virus, you can't ever get rid of it, only treat the symptoms.

There are medications specifically made for supressing the sores, but even without any outward symptoms, you can still transmit the virus, so if you ever do have children, you will have to be careful not to give it to them.
