daughter walks on toes?

Question:
My daughter is 7 and has always walked on her toes. What does that mean and how can you stop it?

Answers:
I have never heard of that. Maybe she needs physical therapy to learn to relax her muscles in her feet. Maybe its a bone problem. I wonder why a pediatrician has not refered her out to see a specialist. Have you tried shoes with support? If you can take and bend the soles of the shoes backwards, then it is not very good for support. She needs more support. Get sturdy shoes that will not bend, she will have difficulty walking on her toes.

I was never a toe walker, but one leg was longer than the other, and I remember having to go to the specialist, and was fitted with special shoes.

Its best to get it looked into, and don't take no for an answer.

PS. Here is another link. Sounds like you may want to try and look up a term called idopathic toe walking. Just use your search engine. Here is a link to one I found: http://www.emedicine.com/orthoped/topic451.htm

i had a friend who did that.take her to a doctor maybe?

Could be an issue with the tendons if she really *always* does it. What does her doctor say? i knew a girl who did that. she was part mental, i am not saying that your daughter is but i am just saying.i knew a girl who walked on her toes that was partially mental(only a lil bit)

Not sure on that one, but I think she could make a great ballet dancer due to this! It would also be lovely.Who doesn't like ballerinas!?
You could make this useful! :)

this hapens to lots of kids ,its something to do with ligamenst in akilies. some grow out of it and some dont.i suggest a physio. talking to her doctor will help too but dont panick ok xxxx for whatever reason the girls in my family always did this not sure why or what it means but they always grew out of it.It was such a family tradition that I laughed when I saw my daughter doing it/

my boyfriend is 33 and his sis is 27 they also walk on their toes. i don't no that they can stop.

im having the same problem my daughter is 5 and she is pigeon toed and im working on her walk at the moment you can try switching her shoes around see if that would do something some people have told me that she'll grow at of it but i doubt it. you might have to see the doctor and get leg braces
good luck

You must approach a doctor, your daughter's life is on your decision. You should see a podiatrist. She probably has equinus (tight Achilles tendon). This can be helped with physical therapy, however, if she's 7 and doing it, she might need surgery to lengthen the tendons. She might also have an undiagnosed mild cerebral palsy. You need to have her evaluated by a doctor.

I remember I used to do that and one day I just stopped. I dunno what made me to. I simply stopped.

Buy her those kids shoes with the really heavy heels.

Maybe she wants to get taller. I think that you should bring her to a doctor, something could be wrong with her muscle.
