Anyone ever suffered facial paralysis from Acoustic Neuroma surgery?
Question:
Answers:
I have a very slight weakness in the right side of my face from the surgery. I have also met a friend of a friend who had more severe paralysis.
Paralysis was my greatest fear in the operation (oddly losing 50% of my hearing wasn't scary at all) so I can relate to what your family member is going through.
All I can say is, not the end of the world.
In the long term life is what you make it, not what it makes you.
Other Answers:
Give the family member time, therapy, and a lot of love. Some people have been helped by getting a massager to relax the facial muscles by doing it daily. I don't know if it'll work for everyone, though.
