Does TOOTHPASTE really help to get rid of pimples?

Question:
Have you tried this? If so how did it work for you?
I'm out of Proactiv and can't get it till much later this month, and Im breakin out!! There's on on my forehead that just won't go away and I'm desperate.

Answers:
drink lots of water, it flushes out the system naturally, what works for very oily skin is proper care. (i used to use things like dettol soap and let it dry on my skin for an hour or so and then resoap it and rinse (this worked wonders!) or handwash if i was out of my regular things, now my skin is so self regulatory i only use soap! i was the only one in my entire family of 6 who never had acne!)
natural porridge oats, if you mix some in a bowl with water, use an old toothbrush and scrub your face 2x per week with it, you'll feel the difference in no time. natural egg white, if you beat it for a minute or 2 and apply it to face as mask (maybe with half a teaspoon lemon juice) it helps to tighten pores so that less grease is on the skin to mix with any bacteria...and in so doing, less pimples. try this, if it doesnt work, i'll eat my shorts... *wink* ps. be careful with lemon juice, use it in drops, because it may dry out pimples but it can and will irritate the skin and cause itchy, blotchy redness and patches!! so, use it in liquid form diluted with, as i suggested, egg white. also, apricots, if mashed, they not only tighten pores but take away scars and blemishes. i wouldnt try toothpaste if i was you, but hey...others have from what i see in other replies. best you can do is ongoing care, oats, its extremely useful and not only that its low cost and lasts for absolutely months. best wishes...

Other Answers:
never heard of that...
Yes it does work. I have no clue how, but it does, I have tried it.
Yes, if you have a big cyst-like pimple, cover it in toothpaste before bed. I don't know how or why, but it will help dry out and shrink up the zit! It's not meant to cover your whole face as a regular daily face cleanser though. This is for spot treatments.

Oh, and use regular (white) toothpaste, not the gel stuff.
Sometimes, but I think that only the paste works, not gels.
It never worked for me. I tried it twice.
It helps dry them up a little and since it's sticky you can put it on before bed and it won't completely rub off. You can also try a dab of diaper rash ointment, the zinc helps dry them up too.
Yeah, it dries them up.
yeah i'd try puttin a little on em
i've yet to try it
but my girlfriend says it works like a charm
thats probably the the stupidest thing i have ever heard

I wouldnt rub toothpaste on my face
It's suppose to dry 'em up, but never worked for me.
LOL no
it does work i tried it.
Never heard of this. I will try it tonight.
For God's sake! No! It just hurts your skin!
thats a new one for me hope it helps
don't no about the pimples, but its great on teeth!
I know that it helps mosquito bites but I never heard of it helping with acne
toothpaiste wont unclog your pores try seabreeze and
some cotton balls you will feel it working.
Carrot peels help too and I don't know why. But the best thing is drinking eight 8oz glasses of water a day along with any topical thing you do till you get your proactiv. I have no idea why water clears the skin so well, but it works so ridiculously well it's worth trying it.
Theres a kiosk in the mall near me. Maybe you should look around your area.
People say it works but im not totaly sure I'v never tryed it before. But if you want to get rid of pimples without it costing alot you should try this.

Pimples are a scourge. They come suddenly during the night attacking us in our sleep. Sometimes during the middle of the day they will come they come and you don't know until you have said good afternoon to an office full of people. You go in the bathroom and see it and you think to yourself I can't believe I was out in the public looking like this. Not anymore. Mother Nature is on your side. For every chemical there is a natural that is it's equal. Of course the natural way takes a little time, but usually it is cheaper and better for you.

Lemons, tomatoes and witch hazel are all proven to fight and keep acne at bay. Lemons and tomatoes are both fruits, yes fruits, with a second quality not known to all humankind. What you want to do is cut it open. Cutting it in fours goes a long way. Take each piece of lemon or tomato and rub it on your face. You may have a little something left on your face. Just leave it there. It's for your own good. They will make pimples disappear almost overnight. It they don't disappear they will be smaller the next time you check. Lemon is also good for removing scars. That means any pimples you popped in angst that left a scar will go away over time. Lemon contains acid so it's like having an acid peel thing going, but not. Your skin will be so clear you can set that makeup aside for special occasions.

Another thing that works is keeping your face wiped off. You don't really need soap. All you want is for your pores to stay closed. How you say. Water. Yes, water. Bottled or tap water. All it has to be is cold. Wet a face rag with cold water. I hate to have cold anything on me, but I hear pain is beauty. Wipe your face with a cold wet rag everyday before setting out for the day. Wipe it again went you get in and once more before bed. Your pores will stay closed. You will keep the irritation of the skin on your face down and it should be pretty clear. Also try to remember to keep your hands out of your face. Your fingertips and nails hold a lot of germs and touch a lot of dirt. Putting them in your face increases the chance of irritation thus creating those hideous pimples.

Witch Hazel is a natural way to clear ones face, too. It is an astringent. Yes, an astringent, just like the other products claim to contain. Witch Hazel is also cold almost anywhere you store it so it's like using water only it pulls impurities up out of your skin. Your will apply this anywhere from two to three times a day. Before bed is really good. As you sleep your body goes through a lot of things I am not scientifically equipped to elaborate on or prove. I just notice that if you do your beauty regimens at night and go to bed when you wake up in the morning you should be very pleased with the results when you wake up in the morning. And it is very cheap because almost not one buys it. Hurry up before they figure it out!
my 15 year old son says it does. try it , it may work for u if not for all.
Yes, something about the toothpaste helps dry out pimples and bee stings.
Well, my brother tyred it and said it worked- try it!
It's a heavy astringent..it's possible. Have you tried witchhazel?
you can also use it as a sunburn, lotion it is waterproof, stays on for a few hours
I never heard of toothpast clearing up pimples. Have you tried rubbing alcohol or anything astringent (that has alcohol in it)?
did you ever see a tooth with a pimple , so it must work
yea, wel it works for me. basically works because it kills germs (meant 4 ur teeth), when u put in on a pimple it drys it out and kills the germs. put it on b4 u sleep, and take off in mornin. have to do it for a few nights, not just once. id say strong toothpastes - colgate! ;)
