does hypnotism work for quiting smoking?

Question:

Answers:
Worked for me. I had smoked a pack a day for many years, and then quit about 18 years ago. The first session didn't work because I didn't follow the hypnotist's instructions. The second time, I followed those instructions exactly, and it worked. There's a bit more to it than just being hypnotized once. Be prepared to get rid of all smoking paraphernalia in your environment. You'll also probably be instructed to increase your water intake (many symptoms of nicotine withdrawal are actually caused by dehydration.plus, drinking more water is better than eating more food when you are trying to quit).

Best wishes!

Other Answers:
Never tried it personally, but have had friends that have and none of them quit. Personally I think it's all mind over matter.

only for 4 days, and it won't work again. Mostly not!
Someone should be fully aware ans awake and decisive to quit, no excuses, no other easy solution!

it did for my mom, not the wife, i think if you really want to quit it would work, my mom smoked 2 packs a day, she has not smoked in 19 years now! I have a couple of friends it's worked for. The bottom line is you have to be motivated to quit; it won't make you motivated but will help you.

A friend of mine had good luck with it. She's quit for about four months now. I'm considering trying it myself.

only on a small few.

Yes, but as a retired mental health professional, and former cigarette smoker, I can tell you that putting down the cigarettes and not lighting another, or buying any more is much more effective, much less costly, and very do-able!! God Bless you. I would say no because I don't belive in hypnotism.

What really works is commitment. It's like when you want to lose weight, you have to stick your mind to it and just do it. If you have even the slightest doubt, then nothing will work. I stopped smoking 6 years ago, and you have to be really commited, that's it, no need to spend money in it.

what i do is smoke weed when i get a craving

idk but in movies and books it does so probably Studies on this have had pretty mixed results. It does look like hypnosis helps some people with smoking (though a study in 2006 found that it is more likely to help men rather than women -- women typically have a harder time quitting than men in general, though). It's definitely worth a try! Can't hurt, and may help!

It has been very effective. But you need to quit when your good and ready. It has to be a firm decision. Not because of pressure, but because you want something better for yourself.

theoretically it should help but not completely do everything..

I really doubt it.

I heard about a pill you can take, not sure of the name ( and I know this is a lame answer).

This girl I knew back in 95 tried the "hypno" stuff. When she came back, she was doing just fine.. until one day she and I were in the office den.

She did the strangest thing. I happen to say , "honey, where's the PAPER CLIPS?"

She walked to the kitchen, opened the fridge, pulled out a ball park frank, dropped to her knees and started giving it a BJ."

I WAS LIKE, "HEY *****, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?"

She didn't hear a word.

I later figured out why she kept coming home from work late.

PHANWA IN THE MACHINE

Hey, I can say " YES" it does work.
I was a chain smoker and smoked from 4 to 5 packages of Pall Malls per day.. I smoked for 22 years
I went to a Doctor that hypnotized me, walked out of his office, threw the package of Pall Malls in the gutter and never touched another one.. That was back in 1970..
You must want to quit. You must get a good doctor to do this to you. It takes about 45 minutes all total.
Good Luck. The doctor was from Peoria, Illinois by the name of Dr Thompson.. I doubt if he is even there any more.
