if you color your hair or use hairspray are you safe from head lice?

Question:
i dont have it but i was just wondering if there was any myths or facts that could keep them away

Answers:
No, hair color or hairspray cannot keep you from getting head lice. To prevent it, keep your hats, combs, brushes, barettes, pony tail ties, and head bands (all hair related items) to yourself.do not share them with anybody. Lice is a bug that attaches itself to the shaft of the hair. You have to use special shampoos and a special comb to get rid of it. You also have to clean all your bedding, clothing and hair items to make sure that there is no lice on them.

Getting head lice does NOT mean that you are dirty, as some people think.

Other Answers:
yeah. they don't like chemicals

Well lice likes clean hair. They cannot lay their eggs on oily dirty hair because they use the hair shaft to attach them too. I would say coloring will definately kill them and the hair spray might detour them. Haha, I'm black.but I think I know this one. My roommate had lice and she colored her hair consistently. I'm not an expert, but I do believe that it is still possible. The ammonia and other products can be pretty harsh, but you're not applying them directly to your scalp.

duh.my cousin had it and i saw them the next day. all i did was put my hair into a braid and pack it w/ hairspray and gel :)

Certainly not! Head lice love clean hair. Hairspray does help to keep them off, also if lice is going around your school, keep your hair pulled back in braids or a pony tail.

no, but if you spray your bed sheets with alcohol and dip your combs and brushes in the same it will kill the nits. My beautician told me this. That is what she does. Oh they don't like clean scalps either.
