Is it dangerous to your health to be startled often?

Question:
I mean, I watch alot (!) of horror movies, and so I'm also startled pretty often, and when I do, it kinda feels like my heart stops beating for a second, you know? And I'm just wondering if that's a health hazard.

Answers:
what's causing your feelings of your heart stopping is the sudden rush of aderneline. This is normal but if you are finding yourself feeling "nervous" or "anties" all the time and you just can't seem to get your heart to stop racing, maybe ya need to see your doc. But just watchin the horror movies and gettin a rush from them? Naw your ok..

Other Answers:
i hope not.because everything startles me. especially dudes that i work with jumping out at me thinkin its funny.

i really don't think it is. when you are scared/startled, your heart's rhythm can be disturbed. try not watching too many movies that are scary for you. if you are still nervous, ask a doctor for a professional opinion. If it is then horror movies should come with the Warning label from the Surgeon General!

Its actually healthy unless you're over 70,
then your heart might stop forever Health wise. it is somewhat related to that of an anxiety attack where panic erases all logic.
I guess to all things moderation is key. Like in your case for example though it's hard I know try to limit your viewing of horror movies.
There's a reported case where a woman was startled to death because her alarm clock/ radio went off early, which eventually led to her death.
Try to look at it (horror movies) as entertainment/ fiction after all it's all in your mind anyway. I often get startled without watching Horror films and I believe that it causes extra tension which I can't release. I can feel it in my arms and legs as a flash of tingling.

Husband's driving does this to me. You know tailgating . Anyhow so I try to get him to drive back further. Doesn't always work.
I end up carrying it around as a build-up of stress.

Try going for a couple of months without watching Horror films and see how you feel. Switch to comedy's and laugh. We know that is good for your health.

You may feel better than you do now. Maybe sounder sleep and
a more rested feeling during the day. Maybe even a happier disposition.

God Bless you,
