Question:
Answers:
they have to BY LAW let you stay home if your doctor signs a slip requiring you to completely stay off work. if you are on modified duty you may still have to go to work but on lighter duty with restrictions
Other Answers:
if you are in California (don't know about other states) and you were not hurt on the job, a Dr's note does not guarantee that you will have a job to come back to.....Call the department of Labor in your state to see what the local laws are.
Every job has it's own requirements for time off of work and documentation from a doctor. For many jobs, a simple note from the doc will suffice, but other places have a form they want filled out by the doc.
Of course you CAN return to work if you want to against your doctor's advice... it's not against the law or anything!
Most employers will call to make sure your not goofing off,but as long as you have that slip, you're good. Companies don't like to have sick employees because it effects their company insurance and that perverbial profit margin. Should your employer try to firew you for obeying the doctors orders, the go in person to the Dept of Labor-Wage and Hour Division and report your employer.
