Why is it that someone will spend all day looking for a television remote but one spend 3 seconds turning it o

We've gotten so used to being lazy (i.e. being able to change the channel without getting up) that we'd rather expend amazing amounts of energy to find the lazy devices, than to use the quicker and easier way. I live in a climate with long winters (usually 4-5 months), and you'd think people would put on boots, gloves, hat and coat and WALK if they want to go to the corner store, right? Only takes four or five minutes. But no - they'll get dressed, shovel out the driveway (20 minutes or more), scrape the ice off the windows and windshield of their car (10-15 minutes), turn the car on to warm up (about 10-20 minutes, depending on how new the car is - plus the gasoline they waste waiting for it to warm up), go out, get in the car, TAKE OFF THEIR COAT, and then drive two blocks to the store to get bread or milk or whatever. In the meantime, I've gone to the store on foot, done my shopping, and I'm back sitting in front of the computer with a cup of tea or cocoa, already warmed back up. It's just that Americans are spoiled. They'd rather not expend the effort.

However, in the defense of the remote search, I must tell you that many features of my family's DVD player, DVR (it's the generic version of TiVo, only you hook a box up to the TV to use it instead of buying a special TV), and even the TV itself, can only be accessed from the remote control. If I want to fast forward/turn back a DVD, pause it, go frame-by-frame, or even access any of the special features, I have to have the remote.

So there, two answers for the price of one ^_^

You're a woman, aren't you?

I knew it when I read your question.
It's a guy thing... you wouldn't understand.
But that's OK. It's supposed to be that way.
mostly because while searching for a remote might be frustrating, the majority of americans either forgot there are controls on the tv itself, or they dont know how to use them, or they physically get up from the couch, and will never know that they sat on the remote and it was absorbed by their copius backsides.

but thats just my opinion ;p
Because in six seconds they are gonna want to change the channel from Oprah to the News. And, then in another six seconds they will not want to watch the commercials and change it back to Oprah.
I can see the remote, can't see the buttons on the tv. Their making them smaller nowadays, and way too lazy to go get my glasses.
