What causes alot of wax build up in both ears? Everyday I clean my ears with Q-tips and it seems I have?
Question:
Answers:
Overcleaning with Q-tips causes wax impaction and an overbuildup of wax. Also, swimming often or taking very long hot showers or spending more than 2 days a week in a sauna can cause this.
My sister just went through a 3 week ordeal of getting her ears scraped and cleaned at the doctor because of this. This was the information the doctor gave on the condition. She has very long hair and showers daily for longer than an hour in very hot water and lets her hair dry naturally, keeping the moisture in her ears for a long period of time.
Other Answers:
don't clean your ears with Q-tips, this can cause damage
you can use a bobby pin like you put in your hair that way it comes out with a q-tip you just push it in.hope this helps I don't believe that a q-tip can hurt you if your careful. I feel I have to get that wax out and I even use tweezers in my daughters ears sometimes to pull the wax out.
Please.no bobby pins unless you want to puncture your eardrum! Everyone is different. Some people just produce more cerumen (ear wax) than others.
Use a wet, warm wash rag to clean around your ear canal. Q-Tips are fine as long as you don't insert them too far into your ear. I've never known of anyone getting an impaction of wax by keeping your ears clean. Continue doing what you've been doing, and you should have no problems.
