Do you believe UV light is addicting?

Question:
I was in the waiting room at a doctors and they had a medical channel on, it showed a institute that was running a UV test. The set up two tanning booths and had regulars who went regularly they gave them a blocking chemical they use for people coming off some drugs, and believe it or not a majority of these people were going through withdrawal symptoms as would an addict. This says it makes the increase in the tanning business make sence.......

Answers:
i would believe that about the tanning beds, but not in the same way as other drugs of course.i know a lot of people, like i used to be, are addicted because they never saw themselves as dark enough. fortunatley i have lightly oily skin and don't have the same change you see on most girls that go alot where they look dry and muddy. however the sun isn't near as bad as what corporate america makes it to be. of course they are going to tell y ou laying out in the sun is bad. they make billions off of tanning lotion. their are theories and studies that the lotion itself can cause cancer. i know a lot of people are like well some people are to paranoid, but when the world is all about taking people's money it's not so hard to believe. i grew up in the country and have seen farmers that do not have any of these problems. of course the ozone layer is more screwed today but still. also people in foreign countries in areas like egypt and saudia arabia where it is very hot also and there are many desert areas, they have much lower statistics for skin cancer also. but then they have less products and harmful foods...i would be more worried about what i was eating, you see far more people that die of heart attack, obesity, and eating related problems than you do skin cancer anyways..

Yes, you may be on to something here. I used to use sunbeds regularly (really regretting this now BTW) and I felt almost addicted to them and also laying out in the sun. I think they call it 'Tanorexia'....no joke!
