i thought only teenagers got mono...i know an older person that got it..is it the same thing?

Question:

Answers:
Yes. Mononucleosis is a virus transferred through saliva. It is often referred to as the "kissing disease" but is not necessarily passed only through kissing. It can be from sharing drinks with someone who has mono, or who is just getting over it.

If you have mono, remember to drink lots of fluids and get lots of rest (although that's not hard. if you have mono all you want to do is sleep) Once you feel better, make sure you don't share drinks with anybody for another two weeks. The virus won't completely leave your body until about 2 weeks after the tired stage.

I hope this answered your question

Other Answers:
everyone gets it older or younger
Yes, it's the same virus.
you can get mono from sharing drinks, and other things. its not just kissing. lol
in a sense yes. it tends to be a little harder on older folks. there are even people who have chronic mono, that is, it happens a lot.

i'd be leary of a doctor that diagnoses mono in an adult...i'd be looking for liver disease.
Anyone at any age can get mononucleosis
