does anyone else have recurrent staph infections? how do you deal with it and prevent?

Question:
I have had 4 staph infections in the last 7 months. 2 on scalp, 1 on my leg, 1 on my eyelid. From zits or ingrown hair etc. My doc says stapyh occors natually on my skin and that I have had too many antibiotics over my lifetime so I can't fight it off on my own. I am healthy otherwise-this does not stem from anything else. I'd like to hear other people's stories and what they have learned about this reccurrent staph thing that is so annoying, and appaerently lifelong.

Answers:
my son has had 4 staph infections since october. Try going to an infectious desise doctor. I took my son to one after the last staph infection and he prescribed a medication and soap to hopefully get the infections staph out of his body. I ihavent have any problems since. other than that the best thing to do is wash your hands alot, take a bath/shower every day and keep things, expically things that you are in constant contact with, disinfected. Good Luck!!

i took micro last semester and we studied staph ALOT. yes it lives naturally on your skin and some people carry the pathogenic type (i have it in my nose!). the best way to prevent it, is to wash your hands alot . it wont eliminate them, but significantly decrease the amount on your hands. and never touch open wounds cuz that will lead to an infection.

Well, I have never heard of them being reoccurring like this situation, so I learned something new. I would think that would be quite bothersome, especially once your immune system has built up such a tolerance for the antibiotics. I have a recurrence of infection because of a blood disorder, but, I it isn't from staff, I am not sure, nor my doctor what causes it, it cannot be fixed with anti. either. But, I have rarely taken any in my lifetime, so It must just be hereditary.

I think that they should put more research into finding a stronger antibiotic to help cases such as yours. I hope that maybe it will just disappear for you.. Nature provides a solution: Manuka Honey. This remarkable substance is unlike any other honey in the world, capable of destroying antibiotic resistant bacteria like staph, and still used today in hospitals because there is nothing else like it with this "non-peroxide antibiotic factor." that still baffles scientists today.
If you doubt its efficacy go to www.pubmed.com and search this completely unbiased biomedical research database. I would also take probiotics to get your immune system working from the inside out.
