Ladies, am i doing the right thing?

Question:
Both of my ear-peircings are infected. I got them peirced over Christmas break, so I haven't had them for a while. This is the first time they've gotten infected, and this is what I am currently doing:
Holding isopropal alchohol-soaked cotton balls against them.
Is this right? Or will it just irritate them further.
It really really stings. :(

Answers:
thats good. I used to do that too.

Other Answers:
That's what I would do.also soak the earing directly in the alcohol. Do it everyday
i would suggest taking out the earings you are wearing and go to the doctor. most infections will go away with alcohol cleanings but some do not.

one of mine is infected right now too.if its really bad let it close up.but if not your doing the right thing.clean the earrings and your ears every day 2-3 times a day.also put bacitracin or another anti-bacterial formula. hope i helped! :)
i'd use hydrogen peroxide and then put some bactracin or neosporin ointment on them
that might work, but you should try just using warm water and antibacterial soap. it will keep it clean and disinfect it and it doesnt sting like some of the other things. you can use a qtip to clean it. good luck
I would suggest that you get the piercing solution from a piercing place. I used that and peroxide when I didnt have the soluton yet. Also look at a piercing website online. They tell u how to take care of your piercings.
i rub rubbing alcohol on my ears, it works fine rub it on at least 2 times a day, b sure to not touch ur ears unless u JUST washed ur hands then wash them again after
The alcohol will kill any infection but repeated use on the surrounding tissues is not good. It would be good if you could find the cause of the infection and remove it. You could be allergic to some metals including gold. In the meantime use an anti-bacterial healing ointment like Savlon. Jules, Australia.
In my opinion, what you're doing is helpful because it disinfects the skin. on the other hand, I'm afraid, it irritates the little wounds even further that's why they sting so much. Please be extremely careful, and would you please go to the Doctor so he/she will tell you exactly what's wrong with your ears. They might even suggest a softer method to use like a cream or lotion to apply at the regular intervals in order for the little wounds to heal properly.

I believe, with your method of healing and treating a wound, you've killed off all bacteria inside the little wounds and right now (at this point) you're just making it painful for yourself. Just for a peace of mind and making sure that there's nothing serious, you can go and see a caring professional who'll tell you exactly what to do in this case.
clean your piercings with saline it doesn't irritate sterilize the earrings with alcohol and put neosporin on your piercings use the neosporin everyday till it clears make sure the earrings don't get crusted in your ears
