how to stop taking painkillers?

Question:

Answers:
You take a little less each day until you can stop. Start cutting those suckers in half. That's how people quit drugs, booze, even coffee - a little less each day.

If that doesn't work, you might have to see a doctor to get them replaced with something less addicting.

Other Answers:
Don't put them in your mouth or inject them into your skin.

put the bottle/packet down! Stop buying them.

flush them down the toilet with your crazy goldfish who keeps telling you to kill people.

Watch the commerical "your brain on drugs". Ease off of them. Go longer hours without taking them, take less of them when you do take them. Ween yourself off of them

get help if you can't stop

Seek medical advice. Withdrawal can be horrible, less so if it is medically controlled. You may need to check into a treatment facility, but discuss that with a physician. It is not a good idea for you to stop taking them suddenly if you feel you may be addicted to them.

if you cant stop you need professional help first go see a doctor to check your health then see a theropist if that dont work try to get a hobby ,talk to a physk doctor,or get a hobby you in joy

You got some really sympathetic responses here, didn't you?

I think you are strong and courageous to try to do away with your painkillers; I have heard how very hard it is to do.

Can your doctor give you advice? I know that it is never wise to stop taking some medications abruptly, and painkillers are one of them.

Please be careful, and get the best help & advice you can. I'm thinking of you, and hope you get well soon!

Are you taking prescribed pain killers or street drugs? Either way, stop them gradually so you don't have withdrawal symptoms like headache, shakiness, nausea, belly pain, etc. Ask about a rehab program before it is too late.
