my pinky finger hurts and could be broken, who do I see?

Question:
this finger was also corked during a softball game and not gotten better. It is leaning off to the side. What kind of doctor do I see?

Answers:
A regular doctor should be able to get the job done. I think they all pretty well learned how to set broken pinkies in their first year of med school.

AN ORTHOPEDIC SERGEON.THEY SPECIALIZE IN BROKEN BONES
You can go to your family doctor and he/she will probably refer you to get an x-ray or scan to see if it is broken. However, with fingers it is a difficult heal. a splint will be out on it and then you just have to patiently wait.and wait. Good luck.
You have to see a orthopaedic surgeon.[bone specialist]
just because your finer is crooked doesnt mean its broken.broken bones mean a LOT of pain. any doctor can help you with this.you can even just go to urgent care and get an x-ray.
If you don't have a family doctor to go to - try an urgent care center. There's not a whole bunch they're going to do - other than use a tongue depresser and tape it to the ring finger to immobilize it. In the mean time, hope you've been icing it. Ice for 15 minutes every hour. A bag of frozen veggies makes a good ice pack because if forms around whatever you put it on - wrap the frozen bag before you put it on your hand. Don't want frostbite and a broken finger.
You should go to a general doctor's office to get an xray and confirm a fracure vs. sprain/strain. Sprains/strains often hurt worse than fractures and can be more disfigured. Dislocation needs to be ruled out as well. At any rate the doc will xray you'r hand and if it is fractured or dislocated he will refer you to a orthopedic specialist (bone doc) for relocation or reduction/setting. It is the tiniest bit possible that surgery could be necessary, in which case you will be sent to an orthopedic surgeon or an emergency room . If all else fails..go to ER , but
remember ER's are WAY more expensive and you will end up waiting for hours on end for something that might be very minor.
just picture being given a $600 bill for 3 xray and some tylenol. LOL! I am a paramedic, and I work in an ER. I recomend doctor's offices first to you.
