What is the strongest treatment for it?

Question:
The strongest TOPICAL treatment for acne? I only know of Differin. I also know that the stongest medicine overall is Accutane, but I'm way too afraid to use that. Really, I've mostly heard about the pills, but not much about topicals--once again, I can only name Differin right now... Thanks if anybody has answers, I appreciate the help!

I've pretty much tried everything over-the-counter and Proactiv as well. It didn't work. I just want a list of strong topical medications I can choose from. Thanks~

Answers:
You didn't say what type of acne you had there are several kinds:
Acne vulgaris - most commonly experienced around puberty, typically of the face and shoulders/chest
Acne rosacea - a red rash predominately on the face
Acne keloidalis nuchae - a rash caused by shaving
Acne conglobata - clusters of chronic abscesses or boils that may last for years
Acne cosmetica - acne caused by cosmetics
Acne fulminans - an extreme form of acne conglobata
Acne medicamentosa - acne caused by starting or stopping a medicine
Chloracne - an acne rash caused by exposure to chlorinated hydrocarbons such as dioxins or PCBs.

One of my guy friends had the kind where the skin was really oily and was worsened when he shaved. He used a mixture of witch hazel mixed with baking soda and pasted it on his face about every third night or so. He also used Cornhusker's lotion on his face to sooth it. He also drank lot and lots of water, took a calcium/zinc/magnesium supplement, vitamin A, vitamin B-Complex and Golden Seal. It took about a year to clear up. This was back in the 60's before all the "new" stuff came out on the market.

This may not help, but I don't think taking vitamins and drinking water would hurt.

Check with your doctor or a dermatologist.

Good Luck, best wishes.

A chemical treatment may not be the answer, I might suggest you check out your diet. Their are quite a few acne triggers out there.

I had a friend that had a allergy to chocolate. and Mine is oil as the kinds found in fast food, like french fries.

I find if I stay away from my favorite fried foods I'm ok.

Good luck
