Can someone get drunk &die from drinking too much water?
Question:
Answers:
The people who are saying no are very wrong. Yes you can die from drinking too much water and yes, some people look like they are drunk, although they are not inxoticated from alcohol, the symptoms are almost identical. I will explain.
Driking too much water can be fatal. It is called hyperhydration. When a person has drank too much water, they will begin to feel drunk, they will get dizzy and start to display drunken behavior like slurring of the words, unsteady on their feet, etc. They will not actually be drunk on alcohol, but these are the symptoms that are telling your body to shut down. The brain begans to swell and will ultimately cease to function. A person can than either go into seizures and die or simply fall asleep and die.
So the answer to your question is yes and yes. You can die and you will display symptoms of being drunk, although you have no alcohol in your system.
There is a famous court case where a college guy from Chico State died by drinking too much water during a college hazing. All his friends just thought he was drunk, so they let him sleep it off, but he didn't wake up.

not true you will just vomit it up Won't make you drunk, but you can die. Do a search on it, and you'll find a story about a kid in college that drank a bunch of water on a dare, and died. Over hydrated everything.
You cant get drunk on water
But if you swallow to much its called drowning.
YES it is true! I will say no. Go ahead, try it. You will not die. When you're body can't take any more water, you will throw up water. Then, if you continue to drink water, you'll throw up more. A viscious cycle.
not at all true
if we drink 2 much water its not at all fatal
no Water intoxication does not refer to "getting drunk" as most people mean. Drinking too much also is NOT called drowning. Too much water can cause a disturbance in the electrolyte balance in the body & can cause swelling of the brain both of which can cause confusion, clumsiness and altered mental status which could be confused for being drunk and if severe enough can cause death.
It is difficult to do, but you CAN drink too much water. If you do, the amount of soduim in your blood becomes too low (hyponatremia). Symptoms of hyponatremia are fatigue, weakness, cramping, nausea, vomiting, bloating, swelling and tightness of the hands and feet, dizziness, headache, confusion, fainting, seizures, coma, and even death. I suppose the confusion may mimic intoxication.
