No. If there is a problem, ask a doctor.

To answer your question:

Laxettes (in the form of chocolate squares) if given to a child under the age of three (3) you should only feed the child a quarter (1/4) of the square, as if you give the child the full square the child may incure diarrhea and other side-effects which are not wanted.

Laxettes are used to releive constipation. If it's just a one time thing, it will be perfectly safe at 1/4 of a square, but nothing more. If that doesn't work increase the 1/4 dose daily. After the first day of 1/4 of a square, give half a square the next day, slowly increasing, but remember too much will cause diarrhea and other unwanted side-effects.

To avoid further constipation make sure the child has a high fiber diet and drinks plenty of fluids.

If child has chronic constipation you should goto a gastroenterologist.

Added: (Laxettes don't require prescription as they are OTC) but it is said 12 and up, that is why the 1/4 of a square dosage size is given.
No, not unless it is under the direction of a physician.

If the little one is constipated, there are a few things you can do:

Prunes/Prune juice. Feed often :)

Lube their little pootie-hole with some petroleum jelly, so that when they do go, it is easier for them.

Apple juice.

Lay off the fatty foods. Do not feed a three year old McDonalds frenchfries.

Push the veggies and fruits. The fiber is important.
