Besides exercise, what can cause bad muscle cramps?

Question:
I take potassium, but I still have bad muscle cramps in arms, legs, back, buttocks, feet, hands, etc. I can't find anyplace on the web that has helped with this question. Thanks in advance.

Answers:
It could be dehydration. You should be sure and drink plenty of water.
I know eating the "atkins" way can sure cramp up those muscles! Any low carb eating is notorious for that! Try taking a multivitimin on top of the potassium- one with minerals too- if you don't already. You may be lacking other essential nutrients.
Stretch, ok?
Make sure you are eating enough.
More water.
Not so much coffee.
If all else fails, go see you doctor- or a naturapathic doctor- you may have a problem that should be addressed medically.
Instead of taking potassium, instead eat a banana, stretch your muscles 10-15 minutes before and after your workout. Use a cream like arthritis hot or icey hot, if you dont like the smell use aspercrem. And its not a bad idea too just stretch for about 15 minutes even if your not going to workout. After working out and stretching its not a bad idea to take a warm-to-hot bath.
