What's the differnce in hepatitis c and b?
Question:
Answers:
Hepatitis B (HBV) is caused by a virus that lives in body fluids that include blood, semen, vaginal fluid and breast milk. You can get it by having unprotected vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone infected with Hepatitis B. There is also high risk in sharing needles (tattoos, ear-piercing, drug needles). Because it is transmitted so easily through body fluids, you can also get it by touching someone’s open sore or cut with your own open sore of cut, or by sharing items (toothbrushes, razors, etc). Hepatitis can also be passed from a pregnant mother to her child.
Hepatitis C (HCV) is caused by a virus found in the blood. Although some information about how this is passed from person to person is not clear, it is very clear that it is transmitted through blood to blood contact, such as sharing needles (to inject drugs, or for tatoos , ear-piercing, etc.). The risk of getting Hepatitis C from blood transfusions is small, since blood for transfusions is screened. In a few instances, a woman has passed the virus to her baby during pregnancy or birth, but this is not common.
So if the person you know has Hep. C you should not be too worried about contracting it Hep. B is another story. We get vaccinated every year because the serum samples in the lab I work in are for the most part contaminated with it. YUK!
Other Answers:
From what I understand, Hepatitis C is transmittable through sex or exchange of bodily fluids. It destroys the liver and I don't think there is a cure for it. I dont' know too much about Hep B.
Nobody will insure you if you have hepatitis c!!!
All Seven Genotyopes of Hepatits are highly contaigous. There are notmany differences between Hepatitis B and C, they are mainly structural, their end result, effect organs, symptoms are all similar. A you get in a food environment. B and C are transmitted via blood. D is found with B pumping up its voracity but not really by itself. E and G aremore rare and less it written about them.
B and C are blood and body fluid transmissible like HIV. They cause hepatic damage - your liver.
