How many hours do i have to fast before getting my blood taken?

Question: Im getting my thyroid tested. They said i have to fast for it. Do i have to fast for eight hours? I ate breakfast this morning at about 8, ill skip lunch and im getting my blood taken at 5:30 this afternoon. Will this be okay? Or will i have to go in the morning without eating breakfast?

They should have told you how long to fast for. I believe it is 8 hours though. Eat breakfast.

That should be fine go get the blood work done and tell them the last time you ate. But it is ok for 8 hours but in the future they will tell you how long to go but a good 12 hours with out anything but water. Good luck on you test
