How long should you wait to go swiming with a new tatoo?

I got one yesterday and I was curious if you can swim in a fresh water lake or how long you should wait.

i would wait til it was finished scabbing over, if you go swimming the scabbs could get infected and it could cause the coloring in your tat to fade....I would probley wait at least a month

I would wait until it is healed. There is no such thing as a fresh water lake, think of all the people that swim there and all the bacteria and stuff. Congrats on the tattoo, just be patient, they heal fast. =)

With my tattoos-I have been told no swimmimg for 48 hours.

When in doubt, call your tattoo shop and ask them.

I would wait for your tattoo to be completely healed, which will take about a week. Tattoos can get infected just like piercings and you don't want to take the chance.

You should wait til it scabs completely over... The salt and or the chlorine will make it fade... If laying in the sun cover it up....
