I just got my tongue pierced and I was wondering if I have to wait the whole 2 weeks..?

Question:
.before I change it or can I go to the peircing place and have them change it for me after a week? Because the one that I have in now is irritating the hell out of me b/c it's SO long and the swelling is down already (it's been 3 days) and i was thinking maybe the piercing place will change it for me in a couple days if I go back there.

Answers:
they may change it, but the epithelization of the piercing hole has not been completed yet. Once they pull the old one out, they may not be able to put another one in with out a re-piercing.

Also be advised that there are a few people that have died from brain abscesses by having their tongues pierced because the venous blood travels through the tongue, then through the brain before going back to the heart. the mouth and tongue are very dirty and because of this, bacteria can travel with the blood (hematogenous spread) and settle in the brain causing the abscesses.
good luck!

i didn't know people still did that. wait 6 weeks for it to heal

Call your piercer and ask, they do this for a living and know what they are talking about. Chances are they will tell you it's best to wait the full two weeks. Did it hurt? You will have to wait( i had mine priced several years ago) the long bar is because until it completely heals it might swell and if you have a shorter bar the swelling might rip your tongue.

go to your piercer, they should offer you after care so go in and ask for them to chand it..my piercer does it free of charge

Well when i pierced my tongue, i had to put a belly button ring in there because i couldnt get a barbell. 4 days after i pierced it, i could change the ring out. if you do so though, make sure the change out is EXTREMELY quick. a new piercing, especially on the tongue can close up within 10 minutes.
