Why do Doctors wear white medical jackets over their regular clothes?
Question:
Answers:
A white coat or laboratory coat is a knee-length overcoat worn by professionals in the medical field or by those involved in significant laboratory work to protect their street clothes. The garment is made from white cotton or linen to allow it to be washed at high temperature and for safety in case the garment catches fire.
White coats are sometimes seen as the distinctive dress of physicians.

I'm a physician
Because the white jackets are sterile their home clothes are not. They bleach better! How would you feel if the doc walked in with a black jacket on! If there were stains you couldn't tell!!
White So they can see When it is dirty and it also loos professional.
i am a cna and the boss wants white scubs becuz she said it looks more proffessional. you can see that the dr is clean when thay wear white.
Its kind of stupid huh. I mean white picks up on everything, what if they had some sort of explosion of bodily juices. That would be a disaster. It's a nice place to pin your name tag; good deep pockets for supplies; and a stethescope looks really good around your neck, especially with that white jacket for a background!!
white medical jackets keep their clothes clean, also it looks professional, and they can carry things in the pockets of the lab coat.
White color calms down the patients
Cos of the fact that they wanna be more clear, I mean if they get any dirty they will understand and try to clean that soon. And another reason is just for the sick. It means that when a sick come to their office and see white clothes and sometimes green places, the sick'll get a better confident. Appearance. Most of the time. Some doctors also wear like green scrubs if they are a surgeon. Overall, it just makes them "look the part"
Not only does white bleach better, but it is also a sign of intelligence, But yes the main reason they are white is that they are bleached so that they do not carry germs.
a better question is why do they still wear ties?
read this for an interesting study http://medicine.com.my/2004_05_01_mmrarchive.html#108578891583017239 i think they wear medical jackets over their clothes because they are sophisticated
