Is lasik safe, is it expensive?

Question:
pls advise

Answers:
$300 per eye is a BARGAIN! I paid $2,000 (for the pair) and had it done by a doctor that did the first procedures here in the area. I knew one of his guinea pigs (a friend) and was sold when she told me she was 20/20 and he couldn't see any scar tissue when he checked them (like RK). They do slice the top part of the eye and then use the laser to re-shape I think is the best way to describe it. I had mine done and was amazed - I kept thinking I needed to take out my contacts! Sadly, I had to have one done a second time (it was 20/50, but last check 20/20 - may be a bit off now). Before I was in the neighborhood of 20/200 or 20/400. no joke! The only bummer for me, outside of the money of course - my near vision. I sometimes I have trouble reading small print (like bottles) and I even have to use a magnifying mirror to pluck my eyebrows (which I guess your husband wouldn't have to do.) Those I know who have had the procedure (5 or 6 people) are all thrilled with the results. NOT to have to find your glasses or put in contacts is REALLY a great experience. Is it safe? Not 100%, but close. Expensive? Probably. Worth it? Definitely.

My husband went to a professional and asked the same question. Yes it is safe..but usually costs about $300.00/eye.

Based on comments from patients, Lasik is the best option to neverending contact lenses and eyeglasses. According to them, is sort of safe when you take your precautions., the average cost from a good surgeon in My area is $1,500. per eye. Lasik is NOT safe for high-altitude recreationers or adventurists! Otherwise it is fine!

It's safe, yes, but like any other medical procedure it has a lot of risks. I know about 7 or 8 people that have had it done with no problems. It's expensive as most insurance carriers don't cover it.

i think it is. i'll be doing mine in early august. many of my friends did the operation, and all of them turned out to be good. So, good luck my friend. Can find more info on net before u make your decision.

Lasik is safe but it does pose some risk you can't do the operation if you can't stare at a fix object without moving your a eye for a minute. cause the laser is cutting a flap in ur eye. i planned on doin the precedure too so i did some reserch on it. you can go to lasik.com and get all the answers you want there. It is safe as long as you have a competent surgeon. $300 per eye is too cheap. The surgeon will be cutting lots of corners in order to make any money so beware. I would say the average is $2000 TO $4000 for both eyes. Check around and get a couple quotes before you decide.
