why is sign language only on after midnite? do deaf people only watch tv after this time?

Question:

Answers:
I often think that. Not that they watch it in the middle of the night, but its spiteful and mean of the tv companies, not to have a signer pop up with the interactive buttons if need be.

I'd love to learn sign language btw. (and no jokes about the swearing fingers already being universal)

Other Answers:
i have often wondered this myself, I think the deaf can get special closed caption decoders to attach to their tv's to get subtitles for the programmes they want to watch, I think the bbc/granada just show it late at night so they are seen as giving equal opps viewing to make themselves fell better and to cover their backsides.
lol! that was funny well done you! but yeah i know why?? lol
I've always thought that. Its not fair at all. There should be an interactive sign language thing so that people can choose to use it. I know that you can get subtitles on most programs and even adverts now, but they can be so dodgy sometimes
Sign language programmes in the UK are broadcast both after midnight and (if I remember correctly) on Sunday mornings. They are scheduled for such times as the deaf are seen as a "minority" group - other programmes in these slots are ethnic programmes (eg Asian) and educational broadcasts. Outside of these times the broadcasters have to produce programming to interest a wider range of viewers, and have subtitles available on teletext for the hard of hearing.
Thats true...hmmmm, but sometimes they show it earlie in the morning
no most deaf kids watch it all day, and read their lips...i've seen it done.
i thought it was for my benefit ...... it tells me its time for bed when they start. lol
