What are the after effects of general anesthesia?
Question:
Answers:
you'll be fine. Trust me this is the way to go when getting dental work done. You'll fall asleep and then wake up and never know that anything had happened. That is until you feel the big lump of gauze in your mouth. You'll be a little sleepy afterward so don't plan on driving yourself home or anything. Also, make sure you get your pain meds filled quickly because the meds the dentist will give you will wear off sooner than you think. There aren't many after effects of anesthesia from oral surgery though. GOOD LUCK

oral surgey is a cinch. no tubes down your throat, you will be fine, just a little sleepy.
The last time I had surgery I wasn't even sleepy but for maybe 2 hours afterwards. The newer anesthetic medications are remarkable. One thing I did notice though was that I was shaky for a while afterwards - like maybe an hour or so.
Blessings to you tomorrow!
Nothing much, just general grogginess. (Is that a word?)
You'll probably be sleeping it off most of the time, anyway.
If you're getting teeth pulled, I'd be more concerned about the side effects of THAT. Be prepared to suck on cotton balls and gauze for a while and get used to the saliva and blood that pools in your mouth every time you roll over.
Other than that...piece of cake!!
I HAD EYE SURGERY A COUPLE MONTHS AGO UNDER GENERAL ANESTHESIA, HAD A PERCOSET IN THE RECOVERY ROOM...THEN DROVE MYSELF HOME.
Depends on what kind of anesthetic they use. When I had a lot of dental work done I went under what they call concious sedation. I can't tell you what kind of medication was used, but they also used nitrous. So basically you're asleep, don't know what's going on, but you'll do what they ask you to. After the surgery was done I was so out of it, I don't remember anything after the one time I woke up a little in the dentist chair. I could feel them drilling on my one tooth and tugging a little on another. Couldn't feel any pain though. The next thing I remember was during the next day.
Now that was for dental work. If you're going in for full blown surgery where they'll be breaking your jaw and stuff, you're going to wake up grogey and feeling like ****. But you won't really care too much.
