i hurt myself at work, need advise, please help!?

Question:
i fell at work last week and ended up in the ER, they told me i have torn legiments in my ankle and foot. i tried to go to work today but i still cant walk on it, no permenant damage but what the hell are my rights..worman's comp, do i file a lawsuit..i am out of money and rent is coming due..

Answers:
yes workman's comp they pay for time out of work too

Other Answers:
I don't think you can file a lawsuit..you might be able to get workers comp if you told your work about it and filled out an accident report.

Worker's comp laws mean that you can't sue. Contact your state's WC office and they will tell you what to do to file a claim. It would help if you told us what state you are in. But I suggest you file for Workmans Comp. Good luck if you are in California. (That is from personal experience.)

did you feel out a accident report at work? now you should be seen by the workman comp drs. You need to file for the workmans comp and you lonely have 24 to 48 hrs and get hold of the hospital report workman comp can be slow but stay with it you are going to have to have surgery on your foot and ankle and you will be off work for a while so file if you have not done so or you will have to pay for it your self. good luck file for workman's comp AND file for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

Good luck. Hope you get better soon. depending on your state laws, you should be filing disability papers which your employer should provide for you. this usually takes a few weeks before you receive any money. you might be able to use your sick benefit time for the initial period after your injury so you have some income.. if you have an employee health department or human resources department they should be able to help you. otherwise contact your state disability department .. check the web for contact information.. feel better..
