Can a parent refuse to vaccinate their child?

Question:
My 5 year old nephew is about to enter kindergarten and vaccinations are required in order for him to be enrolled. My family is very aware of the damages that can be caused by the MMR,DPT and Polio vaccines. I'd like to know if anyone has been able to enroll their child in a public school without these vaccines, did you encounter any problems? What options are out there?

Answers:
You would need a lawyer to write to the school. Whatever slight risk a vaccine is, it's not anywhere as bad as if your child received Polio is it

Other Answers:
I think you can be charged for negligence if the child gets sick but dont quote me on that. Talk to a child care professional. A pediatrician.
Check this out with an attorney. However you can always refuse to vaccinate your child., whether he will be able to bypass regulations remains to be seen.
Im not sure, but why would you take that risk. Millions of kids here in the US have that option, when some 3rd world countries have their children die daily beacuse they dont have that option. god willing your child doesnt catch a form of polio or measles and spread it to the class or school.
It is not illegal to choose not to vaccinate your child, They can go to school signing a waiver not to vaccinate, and they do not pose a risk to others (if your child is vaccinated an unvaccinated child cant harm him/her). But you pose a risk to your own child. There are alot of diseases that were deemed eradicated that are coming back whooping cough, polio, mumps etc. It is up to you to take that risk on your own child, but not illegal you will not go to jail if your child gets the mumps but you will get a very sick child, The new strains of diseases are far worse than the vaccinations themselves.
"aware of the damages that can be caused by the MMR,DPT and Polio vaccines"
LIKE WHAT?

Quit listening to the quacks who are out there spreading untrue scare stories. The damages that can be caused by AVOIDING the vaccines are FAR worse than any risks from getting them.
