Meniscus removal arthroscopy surgery?I hurt my knee while playing tennis, did MRI and doctor suggested?
Question:
I hurt my knee while playing tennis, did MRI and doctor suggested an KNEE arthroscopy for meniscus removal.can you advise if somebody has similar experience my knee is swollen and get pain while walking. Is there any possibility of avoiding the surgery or if there are any side effects in surgery thanks if you can shre your views
Answers:
Several years ago I tore my meniscus. My leg was swollen, and very painful especially when walking. They originally did x-rays and venous doppler studies thinking I possibly had a blood clot which was negative. It was only after I continued to have excruciating pain, and couldn't bend my knee without pain, I insisted the doctor do a MRI. I had the surgery, and went home that same day. Follow up care included months of physical therapy and walking on crutches. If MD recommends surgery, have it or you may suffer serious consequences later. Surgery site only leaves 3 small puncture sites that are virtually invisible over time. Have the surgery, and after some months resume your normal activities.

About 10 yrs ago I fell while putting up some blinds in my living
room window. I feel between couch and window seal injuring
my leg bad it was bruised from knee to ankle. I did not have the money or insurance for doctors visits. For years it pained me till I could not take it no longer. I had the 3 holes put in my knee then the cartledge scraped off and fluid removed. Yes it was a little painful on a scale of 5 for about too weeks just kept it wraped, elevated, iced. There was no side effects glad I had it done.Good
luck !
Hi,
I have had an arthroscopy done for multiple injuries in the knee, one being similiar to yours ..Yes surgery would be required if your MRI has hown a MM tear & dats where the pain is coming from. There are no side effects& its a pretty neat surgery doesnt leave any obvious scars..& yes minimal pain is what i had.
I would say surgery is quite a good option compared to the pain you have now.
The cost of knee joint surgery is very low in India as compared to USA,UK and Canada. You can get the surgery done there in a fraction of cost of what would you pay in USA or private UK
There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges orthopaedic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.
I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by NHS in the UK.They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your knee joint replacement surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
My cousin also got her arthroscopic menisectomy surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now.She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. hope this helps.
I strongly recommend this company to you as you are willing to travel abroad and get the surgery at low cost.
