is a one time measured bp of 140/110 serious? what medicine do i keep 4 emergency use if any/?

Question:
my bp shot up to 140/110 when i was very angry and could get it measured quickly. this has happened three four times in past also. i sweat..head hurts..ears close and heart beat increases. but earlier i never got that checked. there is a medicine which is supposed to be kept under tounge in such emergency.what is that?and does it go for all such problems? i am currently not on any medication for bp. last year i was on medication for tb of intestines. please help.

Answers:
the medicine you're probably thinking of, that goes under the tongue, is nitroglycerine. it's mainly used for people who are having chest pain, like in a heart attack. but it can help to lower blood pressure too but it's not something that is used daily for this.. the increase in your bp was probably due to being angry or upset or stressed,( or all of the above at the same time? ) check your bp when you are not under so much stress or upset or angry and see how it is.. if it's still that high or even if the bottom number is only in the high 80's or 90's you might want to see your doctor..

For the short run, I doubt it....but how often do you get angry?? If you have temper issues, you may want to go to the doctor to get medicine that can help to stabilize your moods....because if you get angry oftne enough and your BP shoots up that high...that's not good.
My advice is to get it checked out. Since I don't know the whole story, it's hard to say but it sounds to me like there's more going on than just blood pressure. Like maybe the angry outbursts are being caused from whatever is causing your bp to spike.
