Is there any way I can get back my body’s original immunity / resistance to direct sunlight.?
Question:
I know I should use sun screen lotion when going out in the sun.
But is there any way I can get back my body’s original immunity / resistance to direct sunlight.
Thanks for your help.
Note that I live in India, a tropical country where there is plenty of sunlight all round the year.
Answers:
I have a disease called poly morphous light eruption. Even a few minutes in direct sunlight used to cause me terrible rashes, itching and swelling. There is a process where you can increase your resistance to the sun. Start out at one minute a day in indirect sunlight. Gradually increase the time and the intensity of sun exposure. Please wear sunscreen as this will reduce your risk of skin cancer. Hope this helps. It worked for me. I could only spend about thirty seconds in the sun a few years ago and now I can stay for ten or fifteen minutes. I know that doesn't sound like much but it is a vast improvement for me.
