just picked up a pair of inserts for my sons feet how long until i will have to replace them?

Question:
he is 10 and the podiatrist said they will have to be replaced when his feet grow a certain length, how long do children usually get out of a pair. they cost us $495 so I am hoping a while.

Answers:
well, i have to wear them too. they were covered by my insurance, i didn't pay a dime.
they have lasted so far about 3 months. but they are not worn out yet.
also, have you tried the regular inserts? those actually work better for a lot of people.
does he have the problem called, gosh, i can't even spell it, let alone pronounce it..but is his arch flat? if so, you can get him a shot of cortizone & it will fix the pain that he has.
the regular inserts are around $15. that would save you a lot of dough.
my daughter is 10, and she will probably need a new pair of shoes a couple of times in the upcoming year, but not from growth, but from wear. that's what you need to be concerned about.
hope i've helped. i hate those podiatrist inserts. to be honest, i quit wearing them 2 months ago once i got the cortizone shot. i am much happier now. you can email me if you need more info.

Other Answers:
ouch. That depends entirely on your kid, but I would guess a lot since he's not even a teenager yet; maybe once a year for the next 8 years and then every other year to every five years after that for the next 20 years. Even after he stops growing his feet will keep changing and the inserts won't last forever anyway.
