are tanning beds better than the sun?

Question: i know they are all bad...i stay out of the sun. but i thought i would try it so i'm not pasty white at the beach this year. but my friend heard something on the radio by the AMA that said that the whole "tanning beds are safer for you" thing is just a myth propogated by the tanning bed industry and that it's worse for you than the sun.

i only wanted to go maybe 2 or 3 times. should i stick with fake tan instead?

Stick to the fake tan. Tanning beds still give off the same thing as the sun.
