Very bad pain in upper leg/butt?

Question:
This has been going on for a few days now. About 4 weeks ago, I was thrown from my horse and landed hard on my right hip. I spent 2 days in the hospital - got xrays immediately and a cat scan on the 2nd day. Nothing broken, but they said I have a bruised bone. Anyway, about a week & half later I was fine, walking fine and riding again. Nothing hurt after that. However, a few days ago, my right leg & what I call "the point of my butt"---where the femur connects into the pelvis and sort of makes a "point" started hurting vey very bady. It hurts to touch, it hurst to flex the muscles in my thigh, hurts to lay on that side, hurts to walk, I don't want to ride because it will hurt to sit on the horse, and the pain doesn't go away with vicoden or perkoset or alleve. I have a very very severe case of plantar fasciitis in my right heel, and I am wondering if it all connected?
I do not think this pain is connected to the fall I - not really in the same spot. Any suggestions?

Answers:
the pain you describe sounds like the sciatic/siatic (sp?) nerve... mine has hurt for the past 8 years. since the birth of my 3rd child.

and it can be down right debilitating at times..
You could try a heating pad then ice...feel better
sciatic nerve pain is kind of what it sounds like, but i dont know if that would hurt just to touch the area... good luck and i hope you recover quickly!
You need to discuss it urgently with a professional Orthopedist. Even a very light injury in you hip joint can worsen gradually and change to a very complicated orthopedic problem. Just avoid any pressure on your leg, do not exercise or doing workout. The only thing you can do is walking in the shallow pool.
same thing happened to me many many years ago i was about 16 but i landed on my back in a ditch on a cement ditch pipe...and my loyal steed took off back home and left me to be devoured by the 2 rotweilers that initially spooked him causing him to rear up. but i digress. i didnt go to the hospital or anything it took about 2 weeks to heel(no druggs). i will assume u might have a pinched nerve that you feel now cus whatever swelling from your bruised bone has gone down. pinched nerves are tricky....have you checked for hernias or a spur from the bone itself?? and plantar fascilitis is an overuse problem so yet it could be related if you have hyperextended anything....
It does sound like sciatica. If there is“pressure along the lumbar section (any L vertebra) it can cause pain that irradiates towards the foot, making it look as a bad plantar fascitis case when it's the sciatic nerve to blame.
Irritation of the sacroiliac joint at the bottom of the spine (where you bruised your bone) can also irritate the L5 nerve, which lies on top of it, and cause sciatica-type pain.

There are a lot of alternative remedies to help ease down the inflammation, but you need to be properly diagnosed first, since there are a variety of sciatica inflammations. Schedule an apointment with a physiotherapist, certified athletic trainer (ATC), chiropractor, physiatrist or a specialist who treats back and lower body problems and let him give you proper treatment (like exercises) which do work.
my guess would be the pinched nerve.. i get it too but usually on the left... it doesnt always happen at time of injury, painkillers or muscle relaxers help... BUT,,,, if these strong meds are not working you may have chipped a bone and it did not show up on initial x-rays.. and because of initial pain you did not notice.. it is possible that the chip was still near to the bone but now has moved and is touching a nerve ... get new x-ray, chipped bones are very sharp and only takes a moment to hit the major blood vessel that runs down the leg. call the doc...
