Frequent light-headedness and near fainting?

Question:
Lately I've been experiencing severe light-headedness, and I come close to fainting. It's getting worse and occuring more and more frequently. (Now it happens about 2-5 times a day, sometimes more.) I may be walking, doing activities, or I may simply be just sitting quietly when I am suddenly struck by a light headedness that causes my vision to darken, sway or fall over where I am sitting/standing, and just completely lose any thought while it occurs. It usually lasts for 10-15 seconds and takes several more seconds/minutes for me to fully recover my senses and perception from it.

I really don't know what could be causing it considering I eat regularly and the randomness of the times it happens.. I don't have any diseases or problems that I am aware of, but I do have frequent headaches (located at the lower back of my head) and backpain, but I attributed both to my working conditions. (Sitting at a desk - I work at a bank.)

Has anyone had anything similar?

Answers:
I had the same symptoms. So, I started drinking more water because it was the summer and I lived in 100 degree weather, but then I was driving one day and it happened.
I would call your doctor and then maybe a nutrionist. I wasn't getting enough protein so I fixed that and then my blood work came back and showed I wasn't getting enough iron either. So I would definately call your doctor.
You need to call your docs office and get an appointment to get this checked out. You also should not be driving at all until they diagnose your problem What happens if you have one of these spells as you are driving? Please get checked out ASAP and try to carpool with someone until they figure out what is going on. Do this for your safety and for the safety of others on the road.
Are you drinking enough water?? Drink 6-8 glasses a day and lots in the morning. Also is it really hot where you usually are? You should start using a fan regularly.

Make sure you are getting enough sleep, food & water. Those are the main things. Also I'd definitely go see your doctor and tell him what's going on.

Good luck hun!
I'm no professional, but these are my guesses:
- some kind of vitamin deficiency
- panic attacks
- low blood pressure

I really suggest you see a doctor, only they can pinpoint what is really ailing you! Good luck, and feel better soon!
