Lennox gastaut syndrome??

Question:
how big of a possibility is it that the child may die from it? i have a 7 yr. sister and i am very scared. she has 3 or 4 types of siezures. is currently in the hospital. HELP!! im scared!!

Answers:
LGS is not life-threatening per se, however, it has a death rate of 3-7%. This is related to the symptom complex that lead to deadly complications.

The prognosis of LGS varies between individuals. On one hand the seizure activities may be well under control with good intellectual and behavioural development; while on the other hand the seizures can be uncontrollable with no progress on intellectual functioning.

Severe fits can cause fatal injuries. Most deaths are caused by accidents.

Intellectual disability can be so severe in children that eventually daily care will be needed.
The mortality ranges from 3 to 7%
