Desperate For Surgery?

I had weight loss surgery 3 years ago and it left me with a ton of hanging skin that insurance will not cover to ahve removed. I am uncomfortable in my body, it moves separately from me. I have bad credit and desperately need surgery. Do any plastic surgeons take charity cases? Where can I find one, this skin is driving me crazy.

Answers:
I have heard that some of the burn centers will make arrangements with charity hospitals to do skin reduction surgeries if they can harvest the skin for their burn patients. The one hospital mentioned was Shriners Hospital in Shreveport LA. You might call them and see if they still are offering that service.

Have you tried Extreme Makeover. I heard that its coming back on television. Best of luck! I assume you could also talk to the offices near you house.

If your insurance covered the surgery, did you check with your doctor or insurance beforehand to see how you would be able to pay for the plastic surgery? Have you been to the GBP support groups in your area or at your hospital?

Have you tried finding a plastic surgeon who will work on a payment plan with you? You could pre-pay portions of the surgery, then pay some afterward.

Short of that, you may need a second source of income to pay for the plastic surgery.
