Why does my head get extremely hot every night at around midnight?

Question:
I am deployed overseas, and my schedule is kind of weird. I have to work at random hours during the day, but mostly in the afternoon. My diet does consist of a couple of diet drinks to maybe 4 max a day. At around midnight every night, my head suddenly feels like it turns up 20 degrees or so. My room temp is set at 70 degrees, so thats not the issue, but i have to sleep without covers on or I will heat up so fast I begin to sweat. I will eventually get to sleep around 4am on average, and when I wake up im freezing cold. I am thinking its the diet drinks (caffeine) doing this to me, but was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions as to the cause...

Answers:
I would say you have a small infection somewhere in your body such as in your ear which causes night sweats. Ear infections are common in children who run high temperatures at night. I also had night sweats when I had a minor infection of the prostrate. Every time I went to the doctor and told them I had night sweats they weren't interested in discovering the cause as long as I had been tested for TB.
could be a small fever
Definitely the diet drinks. They make your heart beat rate rise b/c of the caffeine. I also know someone who complained of neck pain (b/c she said the caffeine made her muscles stiff) when exercising a lot.

You should try not taking/drinking these diet drinks one day and see what happens. Obviously if you don't feel the same that night it will be the diet drinks.

You have to be very careful though, I use to take ephedrine back in the day when it was still legal. I had no idea how harmful it was and took it a lot when I exercised. It worked really well on my body but as soon as the effects of the ephedrine wore out, I felt really depressed and tired.
