How long does it take to get addicted to Xanax?

I had trouble sleeping and my boyfriend starting giving me some little blue pills about 2 months ago to sleep-at first I would only take them every once in awhile. Now for the past month I have being taking one 2mg every night to sleep, my son saw them and told me they were Xanax- now I need to know how to get off taking them as I can't go to sleep without them- also they seem to not be working like they did at first.

You need to find something less addictive to help you sleep so that you can taper off the xanax and still get a good night sleep. Try benedryll. It has antihistamine in it and that will knock you out pretty good. Also, go to a doctor or clinic and get help and they can properly help you taper off them. Xanax can be fatal if mixed with alcohol, so whatever you do, don't mix the two. It's a more lethal combo than vicodin and alcohol. Xanax is in the Valium family of benzodiazepines. Strong stuff. I can't believe you're bf just allowed you to take his pills.

Edit: And also don't mix the benadryll with Xanax. That can be dangerous too without talking to a doctor.

Yikes, You need to try hard to taper off of them because the addiction will get worse and it will be hell on earth to get off them

Addiction time varies from individual to individual, but it sounds as if you are already addicted.

Please get help getting off of these pills. An acquaintance of mine goes on crazy drug binges every time she takes even one xanax. During these binges, she has shop lifted and been arrested. She spent time in jail and is currently on probation because of that incident. She was not even aware of what she was doing at the time.

My aunt, who has alzheimer's was given xanax, and became homicidal until about six months after she was taken off of those pills.

I don't know why that drug is still allowed on the market.
