My 3 month old has a sore throat. The nurse said there is not much I can do unless it gets worse. What things?
Question:
P.S. I put a vicks vaporizor by his bed. I have nose drops to get the mucus out too.
Answers:
Yeah, I don't know why she didn't suggest the oral suspension Tylenol for infants. Just make sure it's for babies that young. The dosages are by weight so make sure you know his most up-to-date weight so you give him the right amount. You might also give him small amounts of water every so often. You don't want to fill him up on it since he's probably only on formula right now - just little sips to keep his throat from drying out. He'll be ok. If he develops a fever, call the doctor's office back.
Look for the Tylenol drops that are for very young children. They will help relieve any pain and swelling.
Make sure he's drinking or nursing enough. Tylenol infant's drops can help with the pain. Make sure you do not over-medicate him. Pay careful attention to the dosage for his weight. If you have ANY doubt about how much to give, ask your pediatrician.
You're already using a humidifier and nose drops. There really isn't much more you can do.
Avoid milk and dairy products.
For 3 months old, I wouldn't suggest anything to specifically help it aside from making sure there is lubrication (meaning water or juice that is safe for an infant).
