Ah...another fan lover. I, too, find it nearly impossible to sleep without a fan or humidifier blowing. It's the white noise. The whoosh of the fan provides white noise that in turn provides a filter to screen out other background noises. My brain tries very hard, even when I'm asleep, to figure out what the other background noises are. If I can hear them, I either can't sleep or get awakened in the middle of the night. But the white noise from a fan sort of blurs the edge of other sounds and my brain doesn't bother being on the alert for them.
I've been like this since I was in HS and I'm now in my 40's. It's not a big deal. It's more important to get a good night's sleep.
Thats not that weird. You might find the noise soothing. I used to like to keep a fan on when I was little. Or, you just might be hot at night.
There is a specific title for that, but I can't for the life of me remember what it is. But, as an explination, the fan's vibrations and noises are now associated with sleep for you, as alot of things can be for different people. Some people read only at night, and they can't sleep with out doing it, some people have a drink of water and can't sleep well with out it. I think the fan and its noise have become a constant in your sleep routine, thats why its hard to sleep with out it.
