Stroke question?

Question:
im 33 years old...i had a stroke last year. Most of the function has returned. The memory has NOT returned. I can't remember what i had for breakfast.

Will it come back? I hate not working?

Answers:
You were very young and unfortunate to have a stroke-so sorry for you.

The type of stroke and its cause would have been diagnosed and any risk factors of another stroke addressed.and relevant drugs prescribed.

Your memory loss as you know is related to the part of the brain that was damaged by the stroke-The degree of recovery will depend on how much of the area was"killed" and how much was "knocked out" and therefore can regain function.
With time surrounding areas may take over some of the functions.
your neurologist is the best person to ask for specifics.
brain exercices such as crosswords, chess, suduko can all be beneficial because they stimulate brain function.
Newer research shows that new neural pathways are formed even years after a stroke. Progress can be made but may be slow. Continue to challenge yourself. Try crosswords if language is an issue. If it's numbers you forget, try Soduko or other puzzles.
