My friends mum has tightning and squashed feeling in her throat help please?

Question:
my friends mum has tightning and squashed feeling in her throat her throat is not sore at all and she can swallow easily with no trouble she went to the docs and the doctor said he has never seen tonsils as big as hers for a woman of her age 60 but he is not sure what maybe behind them he prescribes some antibiotics and said after 3 days return to the docs if no better today is the 3rd day and her tongue is covered in white/yellow stubstance and has not got any better does anyone no what this could be or any advise would be greatly appreciated

Answers:
She should do what the doctor suggests.

If the swallowing difficulty is not releaved in 3 days, I hope he sends you to an ear, nose and throat physician. The physician will examine her for any type of head and/or neck cancer. There is also the cancer of the esophagus that can cause difficulty in swallowing. I have seen people with these types of cancer with not history of bad habits.

Is she losing weight without trying to? Often when people have swallowing problems related to cancer, they tend to lose weight because it hurts to swallow, or they fill up faster, or they just do not feel like eating.

I hope things work out for her.
maybe she has a thyroid problem or maybe it is her tonsils
Go to WebMD - http://www.webmd.com. But the doctor already said come back on the 3rd day, and today is the 3rd day - so why are you wasting time on the Internet?
