I Have been taking zyban for a few weeks Can it make u happier?
Question:
Answers:
zyban is an antidepressant, it was first prescribed to psych patients for those qualities but had the side-effect of blocking nicotine receptors in the brain and has since been used to help people quit smoking, it didn't make me "happy" but definetly mellowed me out quite a lot, unfortunatlely it didn't stop me smoking but i think that has more to do with my lack of willpower. Good luck with the smoking thing
Although ZYBAN is not indicated for treatment of depression, it contains the same active ingredient as the antidepressant medications WELLBUTRIN®, WELLBUTRIN SR®, and WELLBUTRIN XL®. Antidepressants increased the risk of suicidal thinking and behavior (suicidality) in short-term studies in children and adolescents with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and other psychiatric disorders. Anyone considering the use of ZYBAN or any other antidepressant in a child or adolescent must balance this risk with the clinical need. Patients who are started on therapy should be observed closely for clinical worsening, suicidality, or unusual changes in behavior. Families and caregivers should be advised of the need for close observation and communication with the prescriber.
