I have a sore throat and i am coughing up stuff but the stuff won't come out of my throat.?

Question:

i woke up yesterday with a sore throat and it got better throughout the day then i woke up this morning and it was even worse. my throat isn't as sore anymore but i'm still coughing and when i cough this stuff comes out in my throat but i can't get it out i have to swallow the yucky stuff. does anyone have any idea of what this is??

1)Turn the radio up loud (Optional)
2)Gargle with warm salty water.
3) go to the toilet and lock the door
4)Take a very very very DEEEEP breath.
5)SCREAM !
6)SPIT

If it's been happening for more than a few days, it's very possible that you are sleeping in an area that is rich in something you are allergic to. If it's only happened very recently, it may be that you got a cold, it may be a new allergen that's been introduced, or it may be that you've become allergic to something over time.

I'm allergic to dust and when I sleep in a room that has a fair amount of dust in it, I wake up very congested (lots of yellow phlegm... the thick mucus that you cough up).

You may want to check with an allergist to see if they can find out what you're allergic to. If it happens every morning at home, I would suggest telling the allergist that. and if the allergist is willing to put some effort into helping you, they may be able to narrow it down.

If you can't find an allergist (or if they can't find it and/or aren't willing to look at your environment), try changing some things. Sleep in a different room, take some aromatic things out of your room for a few days (like candles, Glade plug-ins, etc), try sleeping at a friend's house for a couple days, etc, etc. Oh, and don't forget to check your laundry detergent and fabric softener. a lot of people don't realize how sick that can make you.

I'm gussing it's probably phlegm.

It's usually clear/white, but yellow usually means infection or a cold, which is what I believe you have.

sounds like chest congestion..buy some Robitussin DM for cough and congestion..and drink a lot of fluids.

oh and my grandma's remedy that always works(unless you have an infection or something)..gargle with warm salt water 3 to 4 times a day...I do it everytime I feel a sore throat coming on and it works!
